Phantom Gourmet announces the Restaurant Rejuvenation Act is NOW a law!
You can NOW purchase a Mimosa, Bloody Mary or Irish Coffee with your brunch in Massachusetts at 10 AM
The Restaurant Rejuvenation Act (RRA Senate Docket #2487, Clerk Number 588) will allow restaurants to begin serving alcohol at 10 AM on Sundays. Current law limits restaurants to serving alcohol beginning at 8 AM Monday to Saturday, but not until noon on Sunday. This caused restaurants to lose brunch business and stifled their weekend hours of operation.
At the suggestion of the Phantom Gourmet's Dave Andelman, this bipartisan initiative was submitted by Senators Richard Tisei and Bob Hedlund (Republican) and Senators Steven Panagiotakos and Jack Hart (Democrat). It was also submitted by Representative Karen Polito (Republican) and Representative Jim Dwyer (Democrat). It will help the restaurant industry, one of our greatest employers, fight the recession and do better business on Sunday mornings.
The new law, part of the $27.6 billion dollar budget that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick signed Wednesday, will take effect immediately.
Make Massachusetts the brunch capital of the world and listen to the Phantom Gourmet with Dan, David, and Michael Andelman Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. on 96.9 Boston Talks.
